Seminar Practice Guide
The Aim of the Seminar Course:
The aim is to develop the ability of speaking, discussing and communicating in front of the group by preparing a current study related to the thesis topics and contributing to the education and training process of master’s and doctoral students in accordance with scientific research methods, and also to make an introduction to the thesis study.
Seminar Course Student Registration:
1. The registration for the Seminar Course is obligatory for all students, except for students who are in their first semester and have not yet completed the seminar course.
2. Students whose thesis advisor is determined should take the Seminar course from their advisor.
3. If there is no Graduate School Board Decision to assign an advisor for the students who are in the second semester and after, they should apply for the assignment of an advisor with FBEYL_Form-1 and take the Seminar course from the assigned advisor for the advisory (Advisor assignments will be completed at the beginning of the second semester at the latest).
Content of the Seminar Report:
In our Graduate School, “XXX 780 – Seminar” is a compulsory course in all Master’s Programs. However, since the Seminar course must contain the following titles for the thesis to be completed;
• Literature review,
• Problem identification,
• Solution methods to be used,
• The originality to be added, and the added-value to be created,
• If any progress has been made in the thesis study, current results and discussions etc.
if there is no specified issue regarding the thesis topic and the thesis advisor, students in their first semester should not take this course.
Announcement and Presentation of the Seminars
In addition, students who take the Seminar course are required to present and defend their Seminar Reports to all participants in the seminar hall (presentation + question and answer can be maximum of 40 minutes) at the end of the semester, according to the calendar and order to be determined by the official announcement of the Graduate School Board of Directors. The evaluation of this presentation and defense will be done according to the criteria in Table-1 and with the FBEYL_Form-3 to be filled by the relevant Advisor and Department Chair, and the result of the Seminar course will be determined as "Pass / Fail" and will be sent to Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences.

SEMİNER DERSİ UYGULAMA REHBERİ
Seminer Dersinin Amacı:
Yüksek lisans ve doktora öğrencilerinin, tez konuları ile ilgili güncel ve eğitim öğretim sürecine katkı sağlayacak bir çalışmayı, bilimsel araştırma yöntemlerine uygun olacak şekilde hazırlayarak, grup önünde anlatabilme, tartışabilme ve iletişim yeteneğini geliştirme ayrca tez çalışmasına girizgah yapmaktır.
Seminer Dersi Öğrenci Kayıtı:
1. İlk döneminde olan ve henüz seminer dersini tamamlamamış öğrenciler hariç, tün öğrenciler Seminer dersine kayıt yaptırmalıdır.
2. Tez danışmanı belirli olan öğrenciler Seminer dersini kendi danışman Hocalarından almalıdır.
3. İkinci dönem ve sonrasında olan öğrencilerden danışman ataması Enstitü Kurul Kararı yok ise FBEYL_Form-1 ile danışman atanması başvurusu yapıp danışmanlık için atanan Hocasından Seminer dersini almalıdırlar (Danışman atamaları en geç ikinci dönem başında tamamlanacaktır).
Seminer Raporunun İçeriği:
Entitümüzdeki, tüm Yüksek Llisans Programlarında “XXX 780 – Seminer” dersi zorunlu ders kapsamındadır. Ancak, Seminer dersi, yapılacak tez çalışmasına yönelik;
• Yapılacak literatür taraması,
• Problem tanımlamasını,
• Kullanılacak çözüm yöntemleri,
• Katılacak özgünlük ve oluşturulacak katma değeri,
• Teze yönelik çalışmada mesafe kaydedilmişse mevcut sonuçlar ve tartışma vb.
başlıklarını içermesi gerektiğinden, eğer ki tez konusu ve tez danışmanı ile ilgili belirlenmiş bir husus yoksa ilk döneminde olan öğrencilerin bu dersi almaması gerekmektedir.
Seminerlerin Duyurulması ve Sunulması
Ayrıca Seminer dersi alan öğrencilerin seminer salonunda, EYK resmi duyurusu ile belirlenecek takvim ve sıraya göre, Seminer Raporlarını tüm katılımcılara sunmalarını ve savunmalarını (sunum+soru cevap en fazla 40 dk. olabilecektir) dönem sonunda yapmaları gerekmektedir. Bu sunum ve savunma sonucu Tablo-1’deki değerlendirme kritelerine göre, ilgili Danışman Hoca ve Bölüm Başkanlığının değerlendirmesi ile FBE-YL_Form-3 doldurularak Seminer dersinin sonucu “Başarılı /Başarısız” olarak belirlenecek ve FBE’ye gönderilecektir.
